National Wool Growers’ Association (NWGA): 3 June 2026
The 95th annual congress of the National Wool Growers’ Association of South Africa (NWGA) will take place on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, at the Mentorskraal conference centre in Jeffreys Bay.
This congress holds particular significance as it forms part of the association’s centenary celebrations (1926–2026), marking 100 years of dedicated service to the South African wool producers. As the foremost gathering of organised wool growers in the country, the 2026 congress will stand as the largest and most historic celebration of wool in the association’s history.
Under the theme, ‘Honouring our heritage, Weaving our future’, the programme will reflect on a century of leadership, resilience, and collective progress within the wool industry. Delegates will hear more about the milestones, challenges and achievements that have shaped the industry, acknowledging the contributions of generations of producers who have built and sustained South Africa’s wool legacy.
The congress will feature three dedicated panel discussions centred around the critical pillars of developing, regenerative, and sustainable agriculture. These sessions will be facilitated by respected industry leaders, including Wandile Sihlobo, chief economist of Agbiz; Chris Burgess, editor of Landbouweekblad; and Deon Saayman, CEO of Cape Wools SA. Their insights will offer strategic perspective on economic realities, industry sustainability, and future growth opportunities for wool producers.
True to the organisation’s tradition, strong farmer participation will remain central to the proceedings. Constructive engagement and deliberation will culminate in formal congress resolutions, ensuring that the collective voice of producers continues to guide the industry policy, advocacy priorities, and long-term planning.
The 95th congress is more than just an annual gathering – it is a defining moment in the history of organised wool production in South Africa. Producers and role-players alike are invited to be part of this landmark occasion as we honour a proud heritage and confidently weave the future of South African wool.
